The School Prom Season Set to bring £750,000 to UK retailer
With the school prom season just around the corner and children up and down the country getting their outfits, vehicles, limos ready a retailer in Staffordshire is forecasting that sales of prom dresses will reach highs of £750,000. The Fashion Factory near Cannock have been supplying children with prom dresses for a number of years but predict this may be the biggest year so far in the history of the company.
Prom season in Britain runs from the end of March all the way through until August so companies around the UK are hectic at the moment including suppliers such as limo hire and hairdressers to name a few. The prom originated from America as the tradition has always taken place each year in the US, however in the past 10 years the UK has seen a major demand for proms and nearly every single secondary school hosts a school prom. The tradition has become that big that even primary schools are now having end of year proms.
Prom wear is now big business and Fashion Factory reported that up to 200 girls every Saturday are visiting and trying dresses on. The dresses range from £50-£500 and the Staffordshire based company is confident they will be out of stock come the end of summer.
